MONITORING (SW) – In his Eid day message, the Taliban leader has claimed the group is on verge of ‘establishing an Islamic government’.

Mawlawi Hibatullah Akhundzada urged the US to honor the Doha peace accord and warned the Afghan government not to create obstacles in the way of proposed intra-Afghan talks. He said the exchange of prisoners should not have been delayed by the other side (Afghan government).

“As we are taking steps towards peace, the prisoner release process plays a big part in building trust and shortening our path towards that end”, said the Taliban leader.

The Taliban leader said It is good progress that the Americans and their allies have begun implementing the Doha agreement by initiating the withdrawal of their forces, evacuating five bases and preparing to withdraw all the remaining military and non-diplomatic personal in line with their obligations in the Doha agreement.

The message also had his views on international relations, reconstruction and education in the country.
