TALUQAN (SW) – Officials in Takhar confirmed the Taliban have overran Yangi Qala district.
Spokesman for the provincial governor, Jawad Hijri, said the Taliban enter the district after hours of clashes on Monday night. He said the security forces went on a strategic retreat to avoid civilian casualties.
Via a statement, the Taliban have also claimed overrunning the district.
