FARAH CITY (SW): Jameela Amini, chairperson of the provincial council in Farah, said on Tuesday the Taliban militants have managed to overrun Sheb Koh district in the province.
She said the Taliban waged coordinated assaults on check posts last night, and managed to capture the district headquarters by morning.
Meanwhile, Iqbal Baba, spokesman for the police, has said the security forces went back on a strategic retreat. He said after the arrival of reinforcement, the security forces have managed to recapture the district. Babar acknowledged that two policemen got killed and two others got wounded in clashes with the Taliban.
This comes days after reports about the trip of Mullah Hibatullah, the Taliban’s chief, to Farah emerged in the media for alleged appointment of shadow governors in the country.
