KUNDUZ CITY (SW): Security officials in northern province Kunduz said that the militants conducted their offensives in a bid to capture Qala-e-Zaal district on Monday morning.
Sayed Agha, a security official in the district, said that the militants have overrun parts of the district’s center. He said that six Taliban insurgents have been killed so far and one of their top commanders Mullah Mansoor has been injured.
Asadullah Sadat, a member of Kunduz Provincial council, however claimed that the Taliban have fully captured the district.
He said that the militants started their offensives in a bid to capture the district from various directions and managed to capture the center of the district today.
He added that the fighting left four security forces personnel dead.
Security officials in the district, however said that only one man from the local uprising forces was killed during the fighting.
They said that reinforcement troops have been deployed to the area and assured that the district center would soon be recaptured.
