QUEETA/ KABUL (SW): A delegation of the Taliban has apparently touched-down from Qatar in Islamabad to consult with the Pakistani officials about the proposed talks with Kabul.
Abdul Razaq Barq, a Queeta-based correspondent has reported that the Taliban delegation comprising of Mulla Shahabudin DIilawar, Mullah Jan Mohammad Madani and Mullah Abdul Salam held talks with Pakistani officials in Islamabad. “It seems they seek guidance from the Pakistani officials for ways and means to take the peace talks with the Afghan government ahead”, he said.
The Taliban delegation is likely to return to Queeta, but there is no official word from the Islamabad government or the Taliban in this regard.
Meanwhile, Mohibullah Shareef, an expert on security affairs told Salam Watandar that parties to this matter want to keep the details secret. “This is a secret matter so far, but it seems there is definitely talks going on, and the results of these talks do not become public very soon”, he said. Waheed Mujda, another expert on security, has confirmed that a Taliban delegation from Qatar has visited Pakistan. He added that the purpose of this visit was to push for the release of their men arrested by Pakistani authorities. “There visit was for a different purpose, some of their men are arrested in Pakistan and the Qatar delegation has gone to Pakistan to resolve this issue”, Mujda said.
