
CHIGHCHIRAN (SW): Provincial authorities have said that Taliban fighters are at the distance of only 5 kilometers from the administrative building of Saghar district in Ghor.
Abdul Basir Qaderi, deputy head of Ghor’s provincial council, told Salam Watandar the Taliban fighters have erected their white flags in Pighol-Jozak area of the Saghar district since past two days. “The Taliban have called upon the residents of the district to help them topple down government in the Saghar district”, informed Qaderi.
Said Mohammad Sadat, chief of Saghar district, confirming the advancement of the Taliban, said the Taliban have established their outposts at a distance of only 5 kilometers from the district administrative building. “It is alarming for the residents of the district, if the Taliban’s advancement is not stopped locals’ lives will be disrupted. If the government does not re-enforce security forces, the Taliban would further advance”, warned Sadat.
Abdul Hai Khatibi, provincial governor’s spokesman, has said the Taliban’s spring offensives have surged in most of the districts of the province. He further said the security forces are planning counter offensives against the Taliban in the province.
