PUL-I-ALAM (SW): The Taliban militants have forcefully closed down at least two schools for girls in Logar province, locals have said.
These schools are located in the Mohammad Agha district and the provincial capital Pul-i-Alam. Mohammad Saleem Saleh, spokesman for the provincial governor, has confirmed the incident. He told Salam Watandar efforts are underway to reopen these schools with the help of local elders.
Shahpur Arab, spokesman for the provincial directorate of education, has informed that the Taliban have not completely closed down these schools, but are not allowing the girls to study beyond class six. The Taliban have not stated their official version on this matter so far.
