Taliban capture five villages in Faryab

MAIMANA(SW):Taliban captured five villages in Pashtoonkot district in northern Faryab province as a result of which a number of up-risers forces have been killed or injured, officials said on Sunday.

It is said that the Taliban have been conducting continued attacks at security checkpoints in Pashtunkot district for 6 days now.

Taliban have taken control of five villages including Qurq Aygate, Kala Shakh areas and Dwazda Aymaq village in Glembaf area by forcing the local up-risers out.

Abdul Qadir Qaderi, District Chief of Pashtunkot, confirming the news, told Salam Watandar that following intense fighting between local up-risers and the militants, commander of local up-risers, Amanullah, was injured and retreated with his men to Sarhouse area.

He also added that the militants fully captured Glimbaf area and the fighting was underway at the outskirts of Glimbaf.

He warned that if the government did not put any efforts to reclaim the areas, the catastrophe of Ghormach district would be repeated.
