05/05/2018

GHOR (SW): Some members of Ghor provincial council have claimed the Taliban are establishing new religious school in Saghar district in a bid to ‘train terrorists’.

Abdul Rehman Atshan, a member of the provincial council, informed the Taliban only enroll teenaged boys between the ages of 10 and 16 at this seminary for ‘brainwashing’. He claimed the Taliban militants are involved in killing one of their own commanders associated with their shadow deputy governor Ahmad Shah, but opposed to his move.

The PC member has raised concerns the government’s inaction would led to a major calamity.

Mohammad Iqbal, spokesman for the provincial police headquarters, has acknowledged reports about the Taliban constructing seminary in Saghar district, but asserted it is not complete yet.

In the meantime, spokesman for the governor, Abdul Hai Khatibi, said in this regard a number of Taliban militants have gathered here to plan for major assaults.

A similar seminary constructed by the Taliban in Saghar district last year was closed down following resistance from the locals.
