Military delegation to visit Pakistan for talks

27/07/2015

KABUL (SW): A Ministry of Defense (MoD) delegation would leave for Pakistan to discuss anti-terrorism measures among other issues, official said on Tuesday.

Dawlat Waziri, the MoD deputy spokesman told SW that Gen. Qadeer Khan, deputy director for MoD Operations would head the delegation. Without going into details, he said officials from the National Directorate of Security NDS and Afghan Border Force ABF would join the delegation.

He confirmed that the matter of shelling from across the Durand Line too would be part of the agenda.

Though, not as many incidents of cross-border shelling are reported from the eastern provinces as they were in the past but a feud over establishment of disputed check post in the south east caused uproar lately.

Afghan forces blamed Pakistan for trying to erect a check post inside their territory in Paktika province. Fire was exchanged that led to casualties on the both sides.

It is vital to note that Af-Pak relations are believed to be at all time high. President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani’s unprecedented outreach towards Pakistan has both earned him criticism for trusting a “mistrustful neighbor” and praises for realizing peace talks with the Taliban via Pakistan.
