KUNDUZ (SW) – The Taliban rebels stormed the district headquarters of Imam Saheb in Kunduz province on Sunday.
Amruddin Wali, member of the provincial council, told Salam Watandar the Taliban waged assaults on the district yesterday, and have overrun Roza Mubarak, Nau Abad and Aqi Bai areas in the surroundings. He added the people are on the run, and if officials failed to take actions, the rebels would overrun the whole district.
Safiullah Makhzon, director security for the province, has acknowledged the Taliban’s assaults, but stressed additional troops are on the way to push back the rebels.
According to the local officials, the Taliban and security forces are engaged in clashes in Se Darak and Charkhab distircts as well.
