LOGAR (SW) – The Taliban have abducted at least six members of the Peoples Peace Movement in Logar province, the group said on Saturday.

A member of the group, Bismillah Watandost, told Salam Watandar that the PPM has been busy in encouraging people for peace in Logar province for the past some days now. He said the motives behind this abduction are not known yet. Watandost said the group lost contact with the six members in the morning.

When contacted, spokesman for the provincial governor, Dedar Ahmad Lawang, told SW the group organized a rally for peace in the Khoshi district on Friday. He said the peace marchers wished to hold a similar rally for peace in the refugees’ camp on the outskirts of provincial capital, Pul-e-Alam, but the Taliban abducted them.

He added efforts have been expedited to ensure release of the peace marchers.

The Taliban have not commented on this incident.
