PUL-I-ALAM, PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): A car bombing in the eastern Logar province and Taliban’s mutual fight in northern Baghlan province claimed the lives of nine civilians on Thursday.
In Logar, the explosion took place around 7:15 in the morning in the provincial capital. Explosives were placed in a truck that targeted the Rapid Reaction Force’s base.
Haleem Fedayee, Governor of Logar told the media that 3 civilians and 3 policemen got killed while 18 others were wounded in the attack. Adalat Abdul Rahimzai, a member of the provincial council told SW that the explosion caused damage to the provincial council buildings, hospitals and private property.
Seperately, mutual fight among different Taliban groups has claimed the lives of four civilians in the northern Baghlan province.
Khanzada Mazlomyar, Dahan-e-Ghori district chief told SW that 4 civilians were killed and 3 others were wounded including children due to the infight between the armed militants in Akakheyl and Khayatan villages in Dand-e-Ghori district.
He added that the rift between the armed militants grew following Mullah Mohmmad Omar’s death.
A day earlier, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said in a report that 1592 civilians lost lives and more than 3000 got injured during the first six months of 2015 in the raging conflict.
The Afghan conflict continued to exact a heavy toll on Afghan civilians in the first six months of 2015, with civilian casualties projected to equal or exceed the record high numbers documented in 2014, the (UNAMA) said on Wednesday.
