KABUL (SW) – The members of Stability and Partnership team in seven provinces did now allow the vote recount to take place on Monday.
Provincial office bearers of this electoral team led by Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah said the recount would plunge the country into further crisis. The vowed to continue with the boycott of recount until the sorting of void and properly biometric votes is done.
The recount was stopped by this team in Baghlan, Parwan, Takhar, Badakhshan, Samangan, Sar-e-Pul and Jawzjan provinces.
Noorullah Paigham, provincial head of the Independent Election Commission in Takhar, and Abdul Qahar, provincial head of the Independent Election Commission in Parwan, confirmed that the re-count has been hindered.
Saleha Farkhari, provincial head of the Independent Election Commission in Badakhshan, said the Stability and Partnership team members have boycotted the recount drive here. She said they have also vowed to set-up a protest in front of the IEC office here.
