KABUL (SW): The Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) has named a 22-member national squad for the forthcoming match against Jordan.
According to the statement issued by the AFF, a number of leading players would not feature in this encounter for various reasons. The federation has announced Hassan Amin and Kanishka Taher are faced with some personal problems while Farid Sadat, Noor Hussain, Imran Haidari, Mustafa Azadzoy, Maseh Segani and Mustafa Zazai have commitments with their clubs in the ongoing European league matches.
Another national player Sharif Mohammad received two yellow cards in a previous match that means he would also be unable to play against Jordan. The match against Jordan is part of 2019 Asian Cup qualifiers. Afghanistan would play as host in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on October 10 against Jordan.
The squad announced by the AFF includes Ovays Azizi, Hamidulla Wakili and Ghaiss Wahab as goal keepers, Milad Intezar, Islamudin Amiri, Rohollah Iqbalzadeh, Benjamin Najim, Amanullah Sardari and Farzad Ataei as defenders. In the midfield, Captain Faysal Shayesteh would be joined by Abbasin Alikhil, Omid Popalzai, Maziar Kouhyar, Sabir Azizi, Farshad Noor, Noroallah Amiri and Fardin Hakimi. Zubair Amiri, Khaibar Amani, Belel Arezou and Amruddin Sharifi are picked as forwards.
In the three qualifying matches Afghanistan has played so far, it witnessed defeats against Jordan and Cambodia while equalized against Vietnam. In its Group C, Afghanistan now stands at fourth position.
