BAMIYAN (SW): The 8th round of Afghan-Skiing Challenge competition was held by the Ski Federation and the Information and Culture Directorate in Bamiyan province with the participation of more than 50 skiers from across the country including some foreigners.

The organizers of this tournament told Salam Watandar that the goal of the tournament is to boost sports among teens and the youths.

Ali Shah Farhang, one of the organizers of this competition said: “Afghan-skiing competitions are held every year, but this year, due to the lack of snow, the number of competitors is low in comparison to previous years”.

“Two skiers from the United Kingdom and the United States also participated in the competition, and twelve others who were interested to join the competition failed to compete due to lack of flights to Bamiyan province”, Ali Shah added.

Mujtaba Hussaini won the first position, Parquin Cooper from the UK came second, and Mehdi Hussaini won the third place in this tournament.

On Wednesday 28 February, the women skiing competition was held and Fatema Nazari won the first position.
