KANDAHAR CITY (SW): The Spin Boldak – Chaman crossing point between Afghanistan and Pakistan has been re-opened after over three weeks of closure.
Col. Mohammad Sharif, Commissioner of the Afghan Border Police (ABP) in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province, told Salam Watandar the crossing point has been re-opened by Pakistan late on Saturday. The crossing point was closed on April 5 when Pakistani forces wished to conduct population census on the Afghanistan side of the Durand Line. The ABP did not allow this, and it resulted in deadly armed clashed between the security forces of the two countries.
This crossing point is frequented by thousands of passengers and vehicles on daily basis.
Haji Ghamay, a stranded passenger in Chaman district, told Salam Watandar by phone that he went to Pakistan for medical treatment, but got stranded there for weeks due to the closure of the crossing point.
