PUL-E-ALAM (SW): Local officials in Logar province have claimed a number of public sector teachers are involved in armed attacks alongside the Taliban on the security forces.
Mohammad Saleem Saleh, spokesman for the provincial governor, has told Salam Watandar that there are a number of public sector teachers who perform their duties in the day, and join the ranks of the Taliban in the evening. He mentioned that two Taliban fighters were killed during clashes with the security forces in the provincial capital Pul-e-Alam a while ago, and one of them was later identified as a school teacher.
The locals have confirmed that a teacher was among those killed in clashes with the security forces in the Padkhab Shana area.
The provincial directorate of education has confirmed the death of a teacher in clashes with the security forces, but refrained from commenting on the remarks made by Saleh. This comes a month after a similar incident in Mohammad Agha district where a number of militants including a teacher was killed in clashes with the security forces.
