GHAZNI CITY (SW) – Residents of Ghazni city on Friday blocked the main highway connecting the province to Kabul in protests against surging insecurity here.
A number of protesters staged a demonstration on Wednesday. However, with the number of protesters growing and official failing to convince them of tighter security measures, the agitation led to establishment of a sit-in camp on the main highway blocking the key route.
One of the protesters, Abdul Bari told Salam Watandar that the Taliban’s assaults in different parts of the province have increased. He said bodies of slain security forces remain on the ground for days.
Spokesman for the police headquarters, Ahmad Khan Seerat said in this regard that drastic changes in the security sector have been introduced to bring improvement to law and order here.
