11/03/2018

KABUL (SW): Mustafa Mastoor, Minister for Economy, said on Sunday a number of local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) have indulged in business rather than service to the community.

He said this at the ‘First National Conference of NGOs’ at Arg (Presidential Palace) here. The Minister said there is no clarity about the source of income of such NGOs. Mastoor vowed the government would take effective measures in bringing reforms to this sector, and taking legal actions against violators of laws.

Addressing the ‘First National Conference of NGOs’, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said the capital Kabul still remains unlivable despite the 17 years of partnership between the Afghan government and the international community towards reconstruction and development. He assured the Kabul residents, the city would be improved drastically in three to four years.

It was said on the occasion NGOs have spent up to $ 750 million on different projects so far, but many projects have faced criticism from the public.
