Sima Joyenda, the recently deposed Governor of Ghor has said that the province was drawn in corruption and ‘war criminals’ have penetrated into public offices there.

In an exclusive interview, Joyenda told Salam Watandar that a large chunk of the annual budget for this province goes to the pockets of high-ranking officials while the rest is wasted on communal violence. She charged that the powerful people individuals in Ghor were leading a number of terrorist groups that are blamed for killing hundreds of civilians.

Sima Joyenda added that the almost every public office, particularly the municipality office, provincial education, health, Agriculture, women affairs, public welfare departments, the Red Crescent, and the provincial council were occupied by these elements.

The former governor mentioned that the main reason why Ghor has not developed so far was the fact that much of its annual budget goes wasted. She stressed that the very people were against her appointment in the first place as she stood in their way. Sima Joyenda blamed the same forces responsible for her transfer from the post.

She said the local mafia has encroached public spaced and have turned them into their private property and have even bought property abroad with the wealth accumulated here. Sima Joyenda served as governor for five months before she was deposed and appointed as deputy governor in Kabul. A number of Ghor residents took to the streets against her removal.
