KABUL(SW): Members of the Masharano Jirga (upper house) said today that sexual assault on an 18-year old girl by her step father was un-Islamic and inhuman act. Fazal Hadi Muslimyar said that this case has been referred to the judiciary and the Mahsarano Jirga wants this case to be pursued seriously. The house urged judiciary to award stern punishment to the culprit.
On Monday, Salamwatandar reported that a man called Qazi Toorgul raped his step-daughter repeatedly and the victim was now six months pregnant. It is said the girl also has a 3 year old child from Toorgul.
Munir Ahmad Rahimi, Spokesman for Samangan Police Chief, told Salamwatandar that this former prosecutor was arrested by the police yesterday evening when mother of the victim complained to the police.
Mohammad Hashim Sarwari, a member of Samangan Provincial Council however, told Salamwatandar that the victim herself complained to the police. He added that Toorgul took his adopted daughter to Bamiyan and raped her there.
The victim is now at the Governor’s office and wants Toorgul to be awarded capital punishment.
