ASADABAD (SW): Local officials in eastern Kunar province have said that gunmen associated with the Al-Ahrar group have torched 3 schools in Manogai district of Kunar province last night.
They have burnt a school down and blasted two other schools in Manogai district. The group has formerly warned the teachers and students against attending schools, Mahtabuddin Muslih, the director to District Educational Department said.
Muslih said that more than 2000 students are currently enrolled at these three destroyed schools.
He added that the local government has engaged local elders to take measures and prevent such accidents in the future.
Meanwhile, Ghani Musamam, the spokesperson for Kunar governor has also confirmed the accident saying that Al-Ahrar Group has burnt down the schools.
Carrying out its destructive deed, Alahrar Group has been active in Kunar province for some time now.
On the other hand, Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for Taliban, has rejected Taliban’s involvement in the attack, but so far Alahrar Group has not commented in this regard.
