JALALABAD (SW) – Following announcement of the Daesh’s defeat by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, hundreds of pro-Daesh militants including their women and children have surrendered for the repatriation process.
Most of these militants hail from Pakistan, and today a join tribal council of local elders from Nangarhar and from across the Durand Line began repatriation of these women and children.
30-year-old Mohammad came from Orakzai Agency to receive some 15 women and 8 children of his family who had joined the Daesh militants in Shinwar area of Nangarhar province. The elders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province hailed the Afghan authorities for treating these women and children with dignity.
Governor of Nangarhar province, Shah Mehmood Miakhail, told a gathering in this connection that only those women and children would be repatriated to Pakistan that are willing to go and recognize those family members coming to receive them. The governor said some 900 women and children along with some 1400 pro-Daesh fighters surrendered to the security forces in Nangarhar province last month.
Representatives of the join tribal council from both sides of the disputed Durand Line border between the two countries emphasized upon the need for peace and harmony.
According to governor of neighboring Kunar, some 200 pro-Daesh militants form Pakistan, Gulf and Central Asia are still active in this province.
