KABUL (SW): Religious scholars from the Sunni and Shia sects gathered in Kabul on Tuesday to call for inter-faith harmony amid growing attacks by Daesh on Shia minorities.
They stressed it is the duty of the religious scholars to strengthen inter-faith harmony. The religious scholars noted that the enemies of Afghanistan wish to split the unity among believers of various sects.
Abbas Baseer, adviser to the president on religious affairs, said on the occasion that the religious scholars have the responsibility on their shoulders to strive for peace and stability. He stressed that the religious leaders should not allow enemies of Islam to sow seeds of hatred among Muslims.
Abdul Baqi Amin, head of Afghanistan Strategic Studies Center, also addressed the moot. He said the religious scholars should strive hard to ensure inter-faith harmony against the enemies that are eyeing to split this unity.
Pro-Daesh militants in Afghanistan have intensified attacked on Shia minorities in the country. Last month, one such militant attack on Imam-e-Zaman mosque in Kabul claimed up to 30 lives and left around 50 people wounded.
