PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): Ragging violence in northern Baghlan province has deprived many young students of higher education.
A number of students enrolled in the Journalism, Education, Agriculture, Economy and Engineering faculties at the Baghlan University told Salam Watandar that they can no longer continue with their studies. They noted that two faculties recently built in Pul-i-Khumri’s Hussain Khail and Zaman Khail areas have been targeted on a number of occasions during clashes between the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and the Taliban.
Fatima Niazbeen, a student at the faculty of Journalism, told Salam Watandar that a number of distant faculties of the Baghlan University are surrounded by the Taliban hence it is unsafe for them to continue with the studies.
Khalil Ahmad Kanju, director for education in the province, said in this regard that such problems exist but things have relatively improved. He asserted that five faculties of the university located in Hussain Khail area are completely safe but ragging violence has frightened the citizens
