Protesters warn to cut power supply to Kabul

SHEBERGHAN (SW) – On the 13th day of protests against the arrest of Nezamuddin Qaisari, district police chief in Faryab, the Junbish-e-Islami demonstrators warned to cut power supply to the capital Kabul.

The protesters also warned to close down the Salang Pass and offices of the international aid agencies if their demands of release of Qaisari and return to the country of the vice president Gen. Abdul Rasheed Dostum are not met.

Mawlawi Lutfullah Azizi, governor of Jawzjan province, assured the protesters negotiations are under way over the arrest of Qaisari and to pave way for the return of VP Dostum.     

In Takhar province, many public offices remains closed today as well sparking concerns among the local population. Sunat Taimuri, spokesman for the governor, acknowledged many public offices are closed down except those located in the Proja area of the Taluqan city.
