MAZAR-I-SHARIF (SW) – Hundreds of Balkh residents took to the streets on Sunday against the alleged killing of at least six members of a family in an air raid.
The protesters claimed the air raid hit a residential home in the Boka area of the district killing six members of a single family. Carrying bodies of the victims, they claimed three women and as many children are among those killed in the raid last evening.
A number of provincial council members have backed these claims by the protesters.
The army’s 209 – Shaheen Corps, has rejected reports. In a statement, it said an operation against the Taliban was indeed carried out in the area last night killing at least 16 insurgents.
