KABUL (SW): Mohammad Masoum Stanikzai, Director of the National Directorate of Security (NDS), and Wais Ahmad Barmak, Minister of Interior (MoI) on Wednesday handed over proof of Pakistan-based terrorists’ involvement in the latest spate of assaults in Afghanistan to the authorities in Islamabad.
Shah Hussain Murtazawi, interim head of the office of spokesman of the President, told Salam Watandar that Mr. Stanikzai and Mr. Barmat would hand over the proof to Pakistan’s top military and civilian leadership.
Meanwhile, Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan on Wednesday denied media reports claiming that President Ashraf Ghani reportedly refused to take a condolence phone call on late Tuesday night from Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Muhammad Faisal has claimed that Pakistan had handed over more than two dozen suspects belonging to the Taliban and their affiliated Haqqani network to Afghanistan in November last year.
Ambassador Zakhilwal has not confirmed this. "This certainly is news to me! It would be a huge step forward in our important bilateral relations if this indeed happens", he said in a statement today.
