SHEBERGHAN (SW): The Taliban fighters and pro-Daesh rebels have clashed with each other in Darz Aab and Qosh Tapa districts of Jawzjan province.
Provincial security officials have said, the Daesh and Taliban fighters clashed with each other on Tuesday afternoon in Aaq Sai, Kamarli and Khak-i-Shahidan areas of Darz Aab and Chamba Jor area of Qosh Tapa districts. The security officials said the fight is still ongoing.
Rahmatullah Turkistani, provincial police chief, told Salam Watandar as a result of the clash at least 60 Taliban fighters including Sheikh Hamidullah, the Taliban’s shadow chief for Qosh Tapa and Shah Zada Mazloomyar, a high ranking Taliban fighter, are dead while 30 more are injured.
According to the provincial police chief, the pro-Daesh insurgents lost 5 men and 4 others got wounded as well. Turkistani further said that the two groups clashed when pro-Daesh rebels abducted 3 smugglers and a high ranking Taliban member with 100 million afghanis from Dasht-i-Laili area. “The kidnapped smugglers were visiting Taliban in Jawzjan from Farah, Badghis and Herat for poppy cultivation and distribution of money”, added Turkistani.
Mohammad Reza Ghafori, provincial governor’s spokesman, while confirming the ensuing clashes between Daesh and Taliban, said both sides sustained heavy causalities.
Neither Deash nor the Taliban have spoken to the media on it.
