SHEBERGHAN (SW): The pro-Daesh militants in Jawzjan province have linked re-opening of schools in Darzab district with a share for them from the teachers’ salaries.
Baaz Mohammad Dawar, interim district governor, has informed that a number of local elders met with the leaders of the pro-Daesh militants in the Darzab district in a bid to re-open the closed down schools here. He added the militants have demanded that the two months’ salaries of the teachers in the district should be paid to them for the schools to be re-opened.
A well-placed source has informed Salam Watandar that the militants have demanded the teachers here to pay their two months salaries to them so that they can better equip themselves. The source informed that the militants have also urged other government employees to either pay their salaries or equipment for fighting to them.
Abdul Hai Yashin, director for education, refrained to comment on this matter, however, he did confirmed that talks between the local elders and the militants are underway for the re-opening of the close schools.
The pro-Daesh militants have also not commented on the matter.
Some 47 schools are closed in Darzab and 28 others in Qosh Tapa district. Up to 26 thousands students are enrolled in these schools. Among the closed schools, 30 are for girls and 45 for boys.
