KABUL(SW):Zafar Hashemi, Deputy Presidential Spokesman told Salam Watandar that establishing special Electoral Reforms Commission and selection committee, was a crucial step towards holding constitutional Loya Jirga in the country.
He said that the President and Chief Executive Officer were interested in holding Constitutional Loya Jirga in the specific time, which has been set for it.
He emphasized that holding constitutional Loya Jirga depended on holding provincial council and parliamentary elections.
According to the second article of the political agreement between the two leaders of the government of national unity, the prime minister’s post will be discussed in the constitutional Loya Jirga.
Before this, the President shall issue a decree for establishing a commission to prepare a draft an amendment of the Constitution.
Earlier, the CEO at a meeting with a number of civil society activists, said that holding any Loya Jirga should be according to the Constitution of the country.
A number of civil society members too said that holding a Loya Jirga would be against the Constitution of the country considering the current situation.
Abdullah Abdullah, CEO, emphasized that he would not allow anyone to play with people’s fate.
He believed that there was no need for any parallel Loya Jirga if the government has been elected based on the people’s vote.
