KABUL (SW) – President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has issued directives for urgent probe into the gang rape of a girl in Balkh province.
Presidential spokesman Sediq Seddiqi tweeted on Thursday that President Ghani has instructed the Prosecutor General's Office and the National Directorate of Security to re-examine the case of the gang rape of a teenage girl in Balkh.
The spokesman for the president added that the girl has been under treatment.
The teenage girl said she was abducted from her home in Kabul to Balkh last year, where she was gang-raped by seven men, a man, his sons and son-in-law. This girl is now paralyzed and wants justice from the government. She has warned to set herself on fire if the government does not punish the perpetrators.
