MoHE blamed for discriminating against private institutions

03/01/2018

KABUL (SW): The officials and students of private educational institutions on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration against the Ministry of the Higher Education.

The protesters said that corruption, injustice, and hurdles in the distribution of the “diplomas” by the MoHE are their main concerns. They demanded the authorities to solve these problems at the earliest.

Sayed Jawed Andish, chairman of the union of the private higher-education institutions, accused the authorities of the MoHE of taking bribes, indulging in discrimination, and not properly supervising the private higher-education institutions. He added the failure to distribute diplomas to students of private higher-education institutions is one of the fundamental problems that has not been resolved for years.

However, Arifa Paikan, spokesperson for the MoHE, informed Salam Watandar that the efforts to solve the protestors’ problems are underway. She said the MoHE does not discriminate between private educational institutions and the public institutions.

Meanwhile, management of private higher-education institutions and students have warned that if the MoHE does not address their problems, widespread protests will follow.
