KABUL (SW) – President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Sunday laid foundation stone for the new administrative compound for government offices in capital Kabul.
The President said the move is aimed at better coordination among government offices and facilitating Kabul residents. Ghani said all government ministries and other public offices would be relocated from the heart of city to this complex, and the city center would be turned into cultural hub.
According to the President work is underway on similar administrative complex in 27 provinces of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Jawad Paikar, Minister for Urban Development and Land, said the project would be completed in two phases for 27 public offices. He added this complex would help expedite public works.
The project spread on some 100 hectors of land would cost $ 1.6 billion and would be completed in 20 years.
