Politics victimizes education system of the country

04/04/2017

KABUL (SW): Experts in the education sector believe lack of political will is hindering substantive reforms in the Ministry of Education (MoE).

In conversation with Salam Watandar, the experts claimed that the employees of the Ministry have been assigned based on nepotism and ethnic ties rather than merit. Mohammad Siddiq Patman, former deputy minister of the MoE, said the government has been playing politics with the Ministry since past 15 years, it has never considered merit for recruitment the employees. “Besides politics, lack of professional educators, late arrival of books, lack of enough school buildings are some of the problems that the Ministry is facing”, added Patman.

He claimed most employments in the Ministry are based on ethnic and political relations which have kept professionals at bay from joining the Ministry.

Salam Watandar wished to have views of the Ministry of the Education on the issue, but to no avail.
