Policemen protest against non-payment of pension

30/10/2018

KABUL (SW) – A number of recently retired policemen staged a protest demonstration in Kabul against non-payment of pensions.

Shukrullah Amanzay and Jannat Mir Zazay, two such protesting policemen, said they have not been paid their pension amount for the past six months. They said relevant officials are making lame excuses and asking them to come again for pension all the time.

The grieving retired policemen said they would stage a massive protest demonstration in front of the relevant public offices if their due pension money is not paid within a week.

Commenting on this, Khalilur Rehman Ghaznavi, director pension affairs at the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled, told Salam Watandar the amount for pension for these retired policemen has not been included in this year’s budget by the Ministry of Interior. He said it has been proposed to ensure payment of the pension through other budget code.

He promised the issue would be resolved soon.
