KABUL (SW) – A large contingent of police on Friday surrounded the Afghan – Turk school in Kabul.
It is reported that the police presence was in connection with the handing over of the school to the Turkey’s Maarif foundation. A number of students told Salam Watandar the police force surrounded the Aryana Afghan – Turk school early in the morning, but the students and their parents resisted.
The union of the Afghan – Turk school students vehemently condemned this move. A number of journalists wishing to cover the situation were physically abused and not allowed by the policemen near the site.
An agreement was reached between the Ministry of Education and Turkey’s Maarif Foundation two years ago over the handing over of all Afghan – Turk schools to Ankara.
