KABUL (SW) – Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, presidential candidate, said people would desire and support only a democratically elected president.
Addressing a press conference at his party headquarters on Tuesday that the over one million rigged and shady votes should not be included in the recount process. He added the employees of the German firm, Demalog, should also be held accountable for their role in the rigging and failure in ensuring transparency.
He said people would not approve an imposed president.
The presidential elections were held on Sep. 28, but the results are yet to be compiled.
Meanwhile, Abdul Rashid Dostum, the first vice president, at a meeting in Jawzjan, said he is more concerned about the election process than the peace process. Dostum said it does not matter if the election results are announced or not, but the commission has lost its credibility.
According to him, all people know which election team is cheating and if the people are directed to come out to the streets, the situation will deteriorate.
