KABUL (SW) – Well-placed sources told Salam Watandar the Peace and Moderation team by presidential candidate Mohammad Haneef Atmar has dissolved.
The source close to Peace and Moderation said Atmar has decided not to contest polls, and instead strive for peace in the country. According to the source, Atmar has said joining any other candidate would cause crisis hence he would not join any rival camp.
An internal meeting took place at the Peace and Moderation campaign office last evening that concluded the team would strive for peace otherwise Atmar was interested in pursuing his doctorate studies.
This comes as the Peace and Moderation first faced internal rift with one of its members Atta Mohammad Noor insisting upon establishment of the position of prime minister and later another key figure of the team Mohammad Mohaqiq joined the rival camp of Abdullah Abdullah.
