ASABABAD (SW): At least 35 mortars have been fired from across the Durand Line by Pakistani forces on Kunar province.
Gen. Mirwais Safi, Commander of the Afghan National Army (ANA), told Salam Watandar the mortars hit Sarkano district’s Nolay village and surrounding areas. He added no harm has been done to the locals as they had vacated the area long ago due to fears about such shelling.
Haji Zargul, a local elder of the Sarkano district, has said this is not the first time Pakistani forces have fired mortars on Kunar. He added the Khas Kunar district, Nolay and a number of other areas close to the Durand Line have long been facing such attacks on villages by the Pakistani forces.
