KABUL (SW) – Hamdullah Muhib, National Security Advisor, is set to visit Pakistan later this week on the invitation of Pakistani Army Chief Gen. Qamar Bajwa.
This has been confirmed by Tariq Arian, Strategic Communications Director and Spokesperson for the National Security Council. “At the invitation of Pakistani Army Chief Gen Qamar Bajwa, NSA Dr @Hmohib will lead a high-level delegation to Islamabad to hold discussions on counter-terrorism, security and peace process”, he tweeted.
A number of Pakistani media outlets reported that the proposed trip by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani to Pakistan is also likely to be discussed during this visit by the NSA.
Meanwhile, Muhibullah Sharif, an analyst on political affairs, told Salam Watandar it would be foolish to assume Pakistan might change its longstanding policy of support for the Taliban.
NSA Muhib is set to visit Pakistan at a time when a number of Afghan officials have visited the country on multiple occasions to galvanize support for the peace process, but to no avail.
