KABUL (SW): The grand council of nomads on Saturday announced its backing for the government’s offer for peace talks with the Taliban.
Dilawar Faizan, head of the council, also announced backing for the Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India (TAPI) gas pipeline and the proposed biometric identity cards. He stressed the new biometric identity cards should be distributed without any further delay.
Faizan said as many as three million nomads are eagerly waiting to receive the new identity cards. He called for the government’s backing towards livestock trade by the nomads. The community leader said this would also help the government collect more revenue.
Dawlat Khan, member of the council from Badghes province, said the government should help establish health and education centers for nomads.
