Kabul (SW): Officials at High Peace Council (HPC), said that Mullah Mansoor’s death would help Afghanistan negotiate with the Taliban.
Last night Pentagon released statement declaring that Mullah Mansour’s was targeted by the US drone strike. The statement said that Mullah Mansour’s car was targeted somewhere in Pakistan territory near Afghan border. This statement however didn’t confirm Mansour’s death.
Aminuddin Mozafari, the spokesperson for HPC said that Mullah Mansur’s death would either lead to splinter factions between the Taliban or would further unite them. He said whatever the result, it could present a good opportunity for HPC to initiate negotiation with the Taliban.
He also mentioned that if the Taliban would splinter after Mansur’s death, then again a faction could still joint the peace process.

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, the Chief Executive Officer, said that once Mullah Mansour’s death was confirmed, the Taliban would suffer a huge blow.
Abdullah added that Mullah Mansour did not respect the peace negotiation and he kept fighting against the government since he was assigned as the new Taliban leader. He emphasized that Mullah Mansoor’s death would convince the reluctant Taliban’s fighters who are not willing to continue fighting against the government to join the peace talks.
A number of political experts believed that Mullah Mansoor’s death would help fragment the Taliban.
