JAWZJAN (SW): A number of provincial council members and some residents in five districts in Jawzjan province have claimed many patients have died in this province due to the lack of female doctors and enough medicine.
Shir Mohammad Noor, a provincial council member in Jawzjan, said that five districts in the province do not have enough female doctors and medicine, and this has caused the patients to die before reaching the main public hospital in Sheberghan. He added the problem has been shared with the government officials, however, this problem has not been resolved yet.
Some residents of Qushtapa, Mardian, Qarqin, Khumab, and Mangajik districts in Jawzjan have also complained about the lack of female doctors and medicine in these districts.
Nematullah, a resident of Qarqin district, told Salam Watandar that some pregnant women have died before reaching the central hospital of Jawzjan due to the lack of female doctors and medicine in the district.
Qurban Turdi, a resident of Mardian district, also told Salam Watandar that the health centers in Mardian do not have female doctors, and women have been facing many problems as a result.
The residents of these districts have asked the government to help them overcome this issue.
Dr. Farid, deputy director at the Directorate of Public Health in Jawzjan, has confirmed the lack of female doctors in the districts of Qarqin, Mardian, Mangajik, Qushtapa, and Khumab. However, he rejected the residents’ claim regarding the lack of provision of health facilities and enough medicine in these districts. He vowed several female doctors will be hired in these districts soon.
