KABUL (SW) – The Independent Election Commission (IEC) has announced to issue the final list of candidates for the forthcoming district council elections in a week’s time.
Sheema Elm Sarosh, deputy spokesperson for the IEC, shared the details with Salam Watandar in this regard. She said not a single female candidate has filed nomination papers in 157 districts while 37 districts remain without any candidate. She expressed concerns over such situation.
The IEC deputy spokesperson noted a week’s time has been given to women to file nomination papers in these 157 districts.
This comes as the IEC has already hinted to extend the deadline for the voter registration drive in a number of restive provinces.
