KABUL (SW): An independent anti-corruption watchdog has declared at least nine government departments most corrupt.
The People’s Anti-Corruption Movement (PACM) urged the government on Sunday to keep the promise regarding curbing corruption. Criticizing the government for being ignorant towards this issue, Sima Ghani, Head of the Movement said corruption was prevalent in 9 departments.
She said PACM findings into the first 100-day activity of these 9 institutions suggested no significant change has emerged.
The ministries of Higher Education, Power and Energy, Interior, Commerce, Technology and Communication, Justice, Education, Mines and Petrolium and the Attorney General’s Office have been ranked as the most corrupt.
Sima Ghani demanded government not to re-appoint former ministers to key positions. She however, regretted that some former officials were still in power on various positions.
Akbar Jan Polad, a political analyst said on the occasion that nepotism was prevalent in the government that was hindering the progress.
