KABUL (SW) – The State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Farooq Wardak, has said newly elected members of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) would soon take oath.
Addressing a press conference in connection with the government’s accountability drive, he said it is highly expected that President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani would administer oath for the newly elected parliamentarians next Thursday.
He said the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has finalized all arrangements for the new parliament, and if there were no changes in plans, the new MPs would be sworn in on next Thursday.
This comes as the electoral commission is yet to announce final results for the WJ elections from Kabul and a number of other provinces as well as the constituency of the nomads.
