KANDAHAR CITY (SW): A new militant group ‘Mehdi Akhir Zaman Lashkar’ has emerged in Kandahar province, an official confirmed on Sunday.
Zia Durrani, spokesman for the police headquarters in the province, informed 16 members of this group have been nabbed from Karz area in the Dand district. He informed the group possessed classic war tools such as swords, knives and others.
Durrani informed the men have confessed to be part of this group, which believes the world is on the brink of collapsing, science has failed that is why it uses old war tools.
Meanwhile, the local civil society has expressed concerns towards the ragging war in the country that has claimed so many lives.
Khaleda, a female member of the provincial council, said such groups spread fears among the population besides challenging the writ of the government. She stressed the government must ensure peace and security in the province.
