KABUL(SW):Speaking on World Mental Health Day, Ferozuddin Feroz Minister of Public Health, said yesterday (Saturday) that 73 percent of women and 60 percent of men suffer from depression.
He said that 20 percent of the citizens suffer from various mental disorders.
He further said that stress is the main reason for mental illness among the citizens.
“Conflict, addiction to drugs, various crimes, domestic violence, and unemployment are all the main causes of mental disorders.” He said.
The minister said that there are 1900 mental centers functioning in the country out of which 300 centers with specialists who treat patients.
October 10th is the World Mental Health Day which is celebrated each year all over the world.
